The Gear S3 has a battery saving feature that turns off the screen after a certain amount of time, but many people like to turn on the always-on face feature so they can see the time whenever they look at their watch. You can have the best of both worlds by enabling the wake-up gesture feature.

This feature turns on the watch face when you move your wrist towards you. To enable this feature, tap Settings > Advanced > Wake-up gesture.

You can prevent the watch face from turning off when you put your arm down. This setting is only recommended if you usually charge your watch when you are at home or at work. Otherwise, the watch battery will last only a fraction as long as when you do not use the always-on function.
