Nine years after it first made waves, CD Projekt Red's smash hit has seen countless DLC additions and upgrades, but the latest change may be the biggest of them all. CD Projekt Red took to X (formerly Twitter), as reported by IGN, to announce that The Witcher 3 REDkit is now available to all owners of the game on PC, including full Steam integration, putting the full power of the title in the hands of modders.
According to CD Projekt Red, the REDkit offers “an abundance of advanced features” that make publishing and using mods easy, and provides “unparalleled freedom in creating new quests, characters, locations, and more.”
A trailer accompanying the announcement gave a glimpse into the power modders now have, showing off how they can create quests, cutscenes, edit environments, and just about anything else you can imagine. The official website explains that the REDkit is a "reworked version of REDengine 3" used to create The Witcher 3, and was released to "give some of the love back to the community and allow them to do more than ever, easier than ever."
