2XKO director Shaun Rivera has stated that his fighting game developers can do exactly what League of Legends players have long wanted: every champion, every character – they can all be “a sick fighting game character.”
What is the 2XKO team's approach to bringing support champions to the fighting game genre?
It’s one of the biggest questions hanging over 2XKO since long before the Riot Games fighting title got its big name change: Will all of the League champions eventually make the switch to the brawler roster? The answer, of course, is no; the flagship MOBA already has nearly 170 playable characters returning. But Rivera and his team aren’t leaving any behind just because they’re hard to make.
“I truly believe we can create an awesome fighting game character for any League champion,” the 2XKO director told VG247 this week. “That’s how much confidence I have in our team.”
For example, Rivera pointed to the fearsome scarecrow Fiddlesticks. The demon champion first debuted in Summoner’s Rift in 2009 and has built a horror-heavy following over the next fifteen years. While he doesn’t lend himself to being a muscular fighter, the themes are there.
