Neiman Marcus has confirmed that there has been unauthorized access to consumer data, impacting more than 4.6 million of the company's customers.
Data of 4.6 million customers stolen in Neiman Marcus breach
On Thursday, luxury retailer Neiman Marcus Group (NMG) announced that it had discovered a major data breach dating back to May 2020. The breach, which affected approximately 3.1 million payment and virtual gift cards, contained information including names, addresses, contact information, and the usernames and passwords of online accounts.
Although the breach occurred last year, NMG says it only confirmed it in September 2021. The company says no active Neiman Marcus credit cards were affected by the breach. The company also says it has already taken steps to protect its customers, such as requiring users to change their online account passwords.
Additionally, NMG advises its users to monitor their credit report for unknown or suspicious charges. However, according to Ars Technica, NMG does not offer any form of free credit report.
