Google today released the first developer preview of the Android 11 update. If you have a Pixel device (other than a Pixel 1), you can install Android 11 DP1 right away. You can also downgrade to Android 10 if you don’t like Android 11, but doing so will wipe your data from your device twice. So, is it worth it? Let’s take a look at why you might be better off not installing Android 11 right now.
How to Install Android 11 Developer Preview
This first build of Android 11 is intended for developers only and is not even a beta update. As such, it will not be available as an OTA update. Expect that to happen next month, though. This is one of the alpha versions that Google decided to release so that concerned developers can already test their apps and thus be well prepared for the subsequent final update that should be released sometime in September 2020.
Google’s own official site is urging users to hold off on this preview for now and wait for a stable initial release that is expected to arrive in the coming weeks. If you’re eager to try the build, you might want to use a backup device.
Android 11 Developer Preview is more of a bare bones structure meant for developers to test their apps. This allows them to identify basic bugs and changes that could potentially break their apps. Installing this on your device will not only make many of your daily used apps buggy, but it could also cause your device to malfunction and overheat.
