If you're itching to buy a new Android phone, you might want to wait a little longer. Especially with Google expected to launch the Pixel 8A – the successor to the uber-popular 7A – in just over a month, you may be able to get the best that Google has to offer with its mid-range Pixel 'A' series. But if you don't see any reason to wait for the Pixel 8A to launch, here are five reasons to hold off.
Pixel 8a one week later – is it worth it?
Thanks to multiple leaks, we have just enough information to construct the Pixel 8A spec sheet ourselves. But it also tells us what to expect from its launch. So if you need practical reasons to be patient, here are five reasons why you should wait for the Pixel 8A and what you stand to gain from it.
The Pixel 8A will almost certainly get the same Tensor G3 chip as the other two Pixel 8 devices. In terms of raw performance, the G3 is considerably more powerful than last year’s Tensor G2, marking the same generational leap that exists between the G2 and G1.
The 7A also suffers from overheating by comparison, especially under heavy load. While updates have largely fixed this issue, the throttling hasn’t gone away entirely. Of course, there’s no guarantee that the Pixel 8A won’t suffer similar issues, but you’d still expect Google to avoid making the same mistake twice in a row. So if you’ve had your eye on the 7A, we’d recommend considering not only the Pixel 8A’s improved performance, but also the Pixel 7A’s issues.
