Are you suffering from EV envy? Is that Tesla daring you to open your wallet? Maybe a Nissan Leaf is begging you to take a second look. EVs are all the rage, and they offer significant advantages over gas-powered cars. So, what’s holding you back?
5 reasons why you should (not) buy an electric car
For many consumers, there are a handful of reasons why electric vehicles are a tough sell. We’ve rounded up the five biggest misconceptions (and mythbuster answers) about these eco-friendly rides.
This is actually nonsense. Electric cars actually accelerate faster than traditional cars, thanks to an EV’s ability to generate torque (which is what allows a car to move forward), so it can accelerate faster than a traditional car.
That said, a vehicle that runs solely on gas can often have a higher top speed, but it really depends on the make and model of the car. For example, electric vehicles like the Audi e-tron, Jaguar I-Pace and Ford Mustang Mach-E electric SUV have a top speed of a whopping 124 mph. And Audi’s 2022 e-tron GT reaches a whopping 154 mph.
