If you’ve been delving into Elden Ring’s new Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, you may have noticed that the difficulty has been ramped up quite a bit from the base game. This has led to many turning against the expansion, including mega-popular Twitch and Kick streamer xQc.

After a series of very public outbursts, xQc crossed the finish line of Shadow of the Erdtree today, and his thoughts on the experience after racking up a staggering 614 deaths were anything but positive. If you haven't finished the expansion yet, be warned: xQc played through to the very end of the DLC, so spoilers for Erdtree's final hours lie below.

It’s not hard to see how Shadow of the Erdtree’s final boss, the brutal Promised Consort Radahn, might drive someone to quit. Of all the hurdles the game throws at you, this one is by far the tallest, fitting its placement as the final obstacle players must overcome. Over a hundred of xQc’s 614 deaths were at the hands of Radahn alone, prompting him to leave Erdtree entirely out of frustration.

However, he eventually got back on the saddle and managed to defeat Radahn and roll credits for the DLC on June 23. In his final review, xQc said that public opinion of the DLC was skewed. He suggested that players should "stick to the [positive] public opinion" and stated that "nobody talks about the things they don't like" for fear of deviating from that standard. While he declined to give it a numerical rating, he did state that it was "not a 10 out of 10."
