HYALURONIC ACID HAIR HACK | DERMATOLOGICAL REVIEW
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is very well known and recognized for its ability to provide and retain moisture to dry skin; it simply adds shine to the skin. HA is a powerful ingredient used in countless face creams and serums. Moreover, hyaluronic acid is a substance that our skin produces, although the amount decreases as we age.
HA is found in the tissue of the dermal layer of the scalp. It is what keeps our cells hydrated and retains moisture in the scalp to prevent dryness and premature hair loss. Over time, our bodies naturally age and gradually less HA is produced, causing the quality and quantity of your hair to decrease.
There are many brands that add HA to their products because it is a powerful moisturizer that can rejuvenate dry hair. One of the best ways to apply it to your hair is through a leave-in conditioner, as conditioners work by locking in moisture to your hair. Another beneficial way to apply HA is directly to your scalp, as when your scalp is kept hydrated, your hair will grow as well. Topical hyaluronic acid can help retain water within the hair shaft, which provides hydration and moisture to hair that is thin, flat, or even damaged. When using HA, all you need to do is add a few drops to your conditioner, or you can apply it directly to damp hair and/or your scalp, which will give it the extra nourishment it needs to support healthy hair growth. You can think of hyaluronic acid as fertilizer; it will help promote hair growth and thickening of your hair strands, which will add volume to your hair.
