All smartphones are vulnerable to tapping, especially if a device has been jailbroken or rooted to take advantage of third-party apps. It may take some detective work to figure out whether you’re dealing with a wiretap or just random glitches.
If you notice just one of the signs below, especially randomly, then you probably don’t have a spy app or other listening device. But if you notice several of them, especially consistently, then someone may be listening in on your conversations.
If you hear pulsating noise, a high-pitched buzzing, or other strange background noises during phone calls, this could be a sign that your phone is being tapped. Hearing unusual noises such as beeping, clicking, or static when you are not on a call is another sign that your phone is being tapped.
However, strange noises can be heard from time to time during calls via mobile and landlines, so this is not an absolute indication that something is wrong.
