We all know the glory of dish soap when it’s used to combat baked-on food, grease, and grime on our plates, pots, and utensils (you guys love your Dawn). But have you ever considered its countless other potential uses around the home? From stain removal to fruit fly control, behold the many blessed wonders of liquid dish soap.

10 Things You Can Clean With Dish Soap! (Clean My Space)

What’s the first thing you reach for when you accidentally get cooking oil, pizza grease, salad dressing, or even lipstick on your clothes? Your new best friend, dish soap. Squirt a drop or two onto the stain, rub it in, and let it sit for a moment before rinsing. Wash your clothes as usual and say goodbye to that almost-stain. (Dish soap can also be used on non-greasy food stains, washable silk, and the ring around the collar.)

To remove stains from carpet, soak a clean cloth in a solution of two cups of warm water and one tablespoon of dishwashing liquid. Blot the stain. Repeat as necessary until the cloth has completely absorbed the stain. Once the stain is removed, apply cold water to the affected area before allowing it to dry.

If water streaks and thousands of tiny fingerprints are taking over your kitchen appliances, a damp cloth and a few drops of dish soap will do wonders to remedy the situation. If you can identify the grain of your stainless steel, wipe along the grain to avoid scratching. Finish with a dry towel to make those surfaces shine; microfiber works best and doesn’t leave behind lint.
