There are numerous password managers that simplify our lives when it comes to storing and autofilling passwords. Most of them allow you to easily share passwords with other users – with colleagues, teams or family members.
However, because they are online password management platforms, your passwords still end up in virtual vaults that are stored on the companies’ servers, meaning they are not fully protected from hacks and leaks. Most people don’t take this into account when choosing a password manager to store all their data.

Even though your password data remains encrypted, there’s no telling when or where the next threat to your password security will come from. That’s where self-hosted password managers come in. They prove to be doubly useful, as your data isn’t hosted on the company’s server, but on your own local servers. As such, the data remains entirely with you (and your trusted parties).
