With the iPhone still topping the sales charts, a foldable iPhone could be the solution to make flip phones more appealing.
Google Pixel 9/Pro/Fold impressions: is it finally here?
Leaks and rumors about Apple working on a foldable iPhone have been surfacing for months now. The latest information from noted insider Jon Prosser suggests that Apple has not only opted for a clamshell design reminiscent of flip phones of old, but that the company is also considering multiple “fun” colors. If so, this would allow Apple to make the device more appealing to mainstream users, rather than opting for a more expensive premium option like some competitors.
“Companies like Samsung, Motorola, and Huawei are already working on foldable designs,” Waqar Ahmed, a marketing expert at Appstirr, told Lifewire in an email. “The main benefits of using [a] clamshell design is that it improves protection of the screen while it’s in your pocket, and makes the phone smaller when you store it.”
It may seem a little strange to see smartphones like the iPhone and Samsung Galaxy transforming into the classic style of the old flip phones, but for those willing to take advantage of it, there are plenty of benefits.
