PlayStation users have discovered a loophole that will allow them to purchase a 1-year PS Plus Premium subscription for half the price once the subscription goes into effect this summer.
How to Always Get a Discount on Your PS Plus Subscription (OVER 50% OFF!!!)
As Twitter user @Wario64 pointed out, it's possible to purchase a 12-month subscription to PlayStation Now (Sony's game streaming service) for $59.99. While that may not seem like much, it's actually quite a deal considering that a PS Now subscription will roll over to the new $120 PlayStation Plus Premium subscription in June, saving you $60 at the top tier.
To clarify, Sony said in its initial announcement: "When the new PlayStation Plus service launches, PlayStation Now will transition into the new PlayStation Plus offering and will no longer be available as a standalone service. PlayStation Now customers will be transitioned to PlayStation Plus Premium with no increase to their current subscription fees at launch."
Essentially, this means you can preemptively purchase a year (or multiple years at this lower rate, according to IGN) of PS Now before the new tiers roll out, and then have it automatically converted. Whether Premium's online play, timed game trials, roughly 700 downloadable games, and game streaming are worth $120 a year is of course up to you, but getting all that for half price has to be tempting for many.
