If you spend a lot of time outdoors, you may want to consider purchasing a rugged smartwatch.
Apple Watch Ultra: Good For Walking? (6 Month Review)
Apple is reportedly considering launching a version of its smartwatch with a rugged casing aimed at athletes, in a bid to compete with a growing number of rugged smartwatches on the market.
“As an avid outdoorsman, a rugged smartwatch has many advantages and is more reliable than your average smartphone,” Bertie Cowan, founder of Effortless Outdoors, said in an email interview. “These watches are designed for the watch-wearing outdoorsman with features focused on heart rate monitoring, GPS navigation, a compass, and more.”
The Apple Watch Explorer Edition, rumored to launch as early as this year, could be the company's answer to watches favored by elite athletes, like those from Garmin. It could also appeal to fashionistas who enjoy the rugged style of watches like Casio's G-Shock series.
