Acer VG271P review: is this the cheap IPS gaming monitor to buy?
For the PC gamer or creative professional who isn’t willing to spend hundreds of dollars, finding the right monitor can be a frustrating game of trial and error. There are few things more disappointing than buying a new screen only to find it looks washed out and dull.
The Acer R721 fits into a budget niche where so many other displays have failed: It's right for the price, but can it deliver the performance? We put this monitor to the test to see if it can deliver value without too many compromises.
The Acer R271 is a remarkably thin monitor. The top half is as small as a display can be, while the bottom quarter flares outwards. This is not only a nice aesthetic design choice, but also a practical one: it means the monitor is heavier at the bottom and therefore less likely to tip over. The screen has a very thin bezel to match its thin profile, and the monitor really is very attractive. You could easily place two of them side by side for a multi-monitor display without having too much bezel space between them.
