Sometimes there is a grain of truth in the Call of Duty rumor mill. Unfortunately for players, in this case it was a rumor about something that Activision made look really, really bad.
Activision Just Ruined Call Of Duty.. | Call Of Duty Ricochet Anti Cheat RANT
Over the past few days, social media has been buzzing about an apparent exploit that allowed hackers to somehow bypass CoD’s RICOCHET Anti-Cheat system and falsely ban innocent players, including streamers like BobbyPoff. Activision announced today that the issue has been fixed and the affected accounts have been unbanned.
"RICOCHET Anti-Cheat identified and disabled a temporary mitigation for a detection system in Modern Warfare 3 and Call of Duty: Warzone that was impacting a small number of legitimate player accounts," Activision said today on Twitter/X. "We have reinstated all impacted accounts. An investigation of our systems has been conducted for security and monitoring will continue."
Several streamers and players, most notably BobbyPoff, have taken to social media to say they’ve been banned from games like Warzone and have no idea why. This is a normal reaction for anyone who gets banned, innocent or not, but it seems like the issue has a lot to do with what hackers were exploiting.
