With Windows Vista, Microsoft introduced the Aero Glass theme, which gave Vista PCs a sleek new look for the time. Aero continued to influence Windows 7, and elements of Aero can still be found in Windows 8, 8.1, and 10, although Microsoft opted for a flatter look instead of the transparent style of Windows Vista and 7.
Improve PC performance by adjusting Windows visual effects
If your computer is underpowered, Aero's various effects will have a negative impact on performance. But as with all things Windows, Microsoft provides a way to reduce the effects and customize them to your liking.
To limit the number of effects Windows uses:
Type "performance" into the search box on the taskbar and select Adjust Windows appearance and performance.
