Adobe Photoshop has had Firefly, Adobe’s AI assistant, for a while now, and now some of those Firefly capabilities are coming to Lightroom… Finally.
This new Lightroom feature is a GAME CHANGER! Generative AI
In a press release sent to Lifewire, Adobe announced that it is adding Firefly AI capabilities to Lightroom. Initially, the AI-assisted skills will be limited to Generative Remove and Lens Blur. Generative Remove will only be available in early access, but it's a good sign that more is coming. These new capabilities will be available in the desktop, mobile, and web versions of Adobe Lightroom.
The Generative Remove feature is similar to what you might know as Magic Eraser: select an object you want to remove from an image and Firefly will remove the object and stitch the image back together around the void using AI-generated pixels, leaving you with a seamless image. This makes it much easier to remove distractions from your photos.
Lens Blur is also coming to Lightroom, but it will be more widely available than the Generative Remove tool. This feature lets you create images with blurred backgrounds without having to worry about mastering the skill in-camera while you’re out in the field.
