Generative AI is often associated with generating text and images. And while there have been some attempts to bring AI into the realm of music, there’s been little support for augmenting or editing the generated music. But folks at Adobe are working on a project that will soon change all that. Here’s everything you need to know about Adobe’s Project Music GenAI Control and what it can do for music creation and editing

Whether it’s Google’s MusicLM, Suno AI, or Stable Audio, the use of AI to create music has paled in comparison to other generative AI efforts, such as text or image generation. None of them offer enough artistic control, forcing users to generate music over and over again until they have something workable. But with Adobe, things look set to change on that front.
Adobe recently announced Project Music GenAI Control, a generative AI tool for generating and editing music. It not only allows users to create music on the go with natural lyric prompts, but also gives them granular control over the music to suit their needs.
As noted on the blog, Adobe’s upcoming tool will allow users to enter text prompts such as “pop dance,” “power rock,” or “soft classical” and generate music. Once generated, editing tools will be integrated into the interface that can be used to further enhance the generated music.
