Thanks to advances in artificial intelligence, trying on clothes in stores could be a thing of the past and can now be done right at home.
Can this virtual fitting room make shopping easier?
Walmart is launching an app that uses AI to let you try on clothes at home. It's part of a growing effort to use computers to take the guesswork out of online clothing shopping.
“While the virtual fitting trend has been growing in fashion for several years, simple solutions allowed customers to get a rough idea of how a garment would look on their body, but not how it would fit,” Vadim Rogovskiy, CEO of 3DLOOK, a company that produces virtual fitting software, said in an email interview.
"Today, solutions use AI to calculate customers' precise body measurements. This allows customers to discover whether the garment fits their specific body. This allows them to try on clothes online in a convenient, cost-efficient and environmentally friendly way."
