AI voice cloning software is out of control 😳
Samsung is adapting its software assistant Bixby to clone a user’s voice to answer calls. It’s part of a larger movement to create artificial intelligence (AI) voice clones that could lead to authenticity issues.
“The biggest warning sign is that with deepfakes, it's difficult to distinguish between what's real and what's fake,” Rijul Gupta, CEO of AI platform company DeepMedia, told Lifewire in an email interview.
Samsung’s Bixby upgrade now lets English speakers answer calls by typing out a message, which Bixby converts into audio and communicates directly with the caller on their behalf. You can also use the new Bixby Custom Voice Creator to record a variety of phrases that Bixby can analyze and create an AI-generated copy of your voice and tone.
