Apple is testing Conversation Boost, a feature for AirPods Pro that aims the microphones at the person in front of you, amplifying their voice without cutting out the sounds of the world around you. It’s currently in beta testing and continues to blur the lines between augmented reality and accessibility.
“This is definitely a feature that all users, even those with normal hearing, would love to have, as we often find ourselves in noisy environments and it amplifies the voices we care about while ignoring other sounds,” John Carter, former chief engineer at Bose, told Lifewire via email.
Apple provided more details about Conversation Boost during the keynote at this year's Worldwide Developer Conference.
