We purchased the AKASO EK7000 Pro 4K Action Camera so that our expert reviewer could thoroughly test and review it. Read on for our full product review.

The AKASO EK7000 Pro 4K Action Camera promises to deliver a stripped-down version of the most expensive action cameras without sacrificing video and photo quality. At less than half the price of the budget GoPro, could it compete with the big name? We put the EK7000 Pro through its paces to find out.

The AKASO EK7000 Pro 4K Action Camera looks about as you would expect an action camera to look. It’s very small, measuring 2.25 inches wide, 1.5 inches tall, and 1 inch deep. About a quarter of the way down the front is the lens, broken up by a red circle around the edge. The front is divided into two sections, matte black plastic under the lens and a lined black plastic by the power/mode button. The sides are textured black plastic. There’s an up button and a down button on the right side. On the left side you have a micro USB port, mini HDMI port, and micro SD slot. The 2 inch touchscreen takes up most of the back. The Li-Ion battery goes into a slot on the bottom. After extended use we did encounter an issue where the micro USB would get quite hot, not enough to burn, but enough to be uncomfortable.

Of course, the camera is only half of what you need to capture great action photos and videos. The AKASO EK7000 Pro comes with a number of mounts, straps, and bands so you can attach it to various items. The two main ones are the regular camera mount and the waterproof housing. The waterproof camera housing is made of clear plastic with a black latch on the top with silver buttons that press down on the buttons on the camera itself. The door on the back closes with the latch and has a white rubber seal to make the housing waterproof. The black camera mount is a rectangle that is slightly larger than the camera itself. The camera clips into the frame and the frame has a tripod pole on the top and bottom that can be connected to various mounts and clips.
