Not sure what to watch on Netflix? Amazon’s Alexa has a new command that lets you play something.
Now 'play something' on Netflix via Alexa
With the new feature, you can say, “Alexa, play something on Netflix,” and Netflix will suggest a show or movie you might like based on what you’ve previously watched, according to a Fire TV blog post. The feature only works if you have an Amazon Fire TV device and are speaking into your Alexa voice remote.
According to The Verge, the new feature is "available first on Fire TV," according to the promotions. That means other voice assistant platforms like Google and Comcast could eventually get the feature as well.
Despite Amazon having its own streaming platform, Amazon Prime Video, Netflix is the first to integrate Alexa voice controls. However, it’s safe to assume that Alexa controls could come to other streaming services like Hulu or Prime Video in the future.
