You can use an Over-the-Air (OTA) antenna to receive television broadcasts from nearby TV stations. To use an antenna, your TV must have a built-in TV tuner, or you must have an external tuner connected to the antenna and your TV.

How an Over-the-Air TV Antenna Works

There are many different types of antennas, so make sure you choose the right one for your needs.

There is really no such thing as a digital or high definition antenna. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) says that anyone who owns an antenna that can receive analog signals should be able to use the same antenna to receive digital signals.

That’s why it’s a good idea to try your old antenna before you buy a new one. If your current antenna isn’t working, you may need one with gain, which helps the antenna pick up a better signal.
