Aether Currents are one of the most sought after resources you can find while playing Final Fantasy XIV. They allow you to unlock flying mounts while exploring a region, and with new areas added with Dawntrail, Aether Currents can be found while visiting Yak T'el.

These Aether Currents won’t show up on your map. However, you can find them by using an Aether Compass to track them down. The compass will tell you where to go and how far away you are, but it won’t give you an exact location. Luckily, we’ve tracked them down in FFXIV and can help you find the missing ones.
Like the other Aether Currents in Dawntrail, such as Kozama'uka and Urqopacha, there are 10 Aether Currents that you can find via Yak T'el. You can find them scattered throughout the area, and I find it best to slowly progress through the many Main Scenario Quests that you get for playing Dawntrail before tracking them down. These quests in Final Fantasy XIV take you throughout the region, making it easy to pick them up as you play.
After you have them all, you’re not done yet, unfortunately. There are five more Aether Currents to find. These only appear as side quests and one Main Scenario Quest. You’ll get these as you progress through the main story, so don’t worry if they haven’t appeared yet. You’re not missing anything. You just want to focus on your final Main Scenario Quest and keep the story focused.
