Season of Discovery is no stranger to mixing nostalgic WoW instances, and it should come as no surprise that phase four brings a bunch of changes to Molten Core and Onyxia's Lair. The changes should make raids feel fresh but familiar, with an added dose of difficulty. Keep reading to see what's new.
TONS OF NEW Loot in Molten Core, Onyxia's Lair, and MORE!
The first two max-level raids of WoW Classic Season of Discovery, Molten Core and Onyxia's Lair, go live globally on July 25. Check out our Molten Core and Onyxia's Lair countdown to see exactly when they start, or scroll down to see all the changes.
Molten Core is now a 20-player raid, down from 40. You'd think the raid would be harder with half the number of people, but with all the powerful Runes and gear added in Season of Discovery, combined with the fact that we've been running the same raid for two decades, it's likely to be easier than expected.
To add some extra challenge for seasoned WoW veterans, Molten Core is getting an adjustable difficulty level called Heat levels. There are three levels: normal, Blistering Heat, or Molten Heat. Higher Heat levels drop more loot, rather than better loot, making them a great way to quickly kit out your raid if you can clear Molten Core easily.
