Path of Exile amazes me with its constant invention of game mechanics that keep the game fresh. My favorite new thing is playing with sockets and the Transfigured Gems from PoE Necropolis 3.24 update. Here is a list of all the Gems and how to use them.

Artillery Ballista of Cross Strafe Transfigured Gem summons a ballista totem that deals area of effect damage by shooting six fire arrows in two perpendicular lines. You can summon two totems at a time, each for 8 seconds.
Artillery Ballista of Focus Fire Transfigured Gem summons a ballista totem that targets specific enemies by shooting five arrows that damage enemies around the target. You can summon two totems at a time, each lasting 8 seconds.
