Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO brings back Budokai Tenkaichi, and Bandai Namco has promised to keep the classic spirit of the franchise alive through improved gameplay and a massive roster of playable fighters from across the Dragon Ball series.

Looking back to the last core release for the franchise in 2007, Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3, or Dragon Ball Z: Sparking! Meteor in Japan, the game featured 98 individual characters to play as and unlock. When counting the various transformations and alternate forms on the roster, that number expanded to 161, though not every form was instantly selectable.
That total makes it by far the largest selection in any Dragon Ball game, but at first glance it seems like Sparking! ZERO will surpass that when it hits modern platforms.
