Whether this is your first gacha RPG or you’re coming straight from a Hoyoverse favorite like Genshin Impact or Honkai Star Rail, the terms and item names in Wuthering Waves can feel a little confusing. Wuthering Waves is a futuristic, post-apocalyptic open world that players can explore as the main character — Rover — while gaining new companions and items.

7 MEGA TIPS FOR NEW PLAYERS | WUTHERING WAVES GUIDE

For the standard terms that replace place names, your character title/name, attacks and skills, and leveling up, start here:

The main character is named Rover, but you will be addressed by your chosen account name later in the script. This is never spoken, so you will still hear "Rover" when your name is called. At the start of a new game, you can choose a male or female Rover to represent you.

Resonators are your companions in Wuthering Waves. They can be part of your team and offer their own unique set of skills when you fight. A Resonator is a person who has the ability to resonate with various objects and manipulate the frequency they use. To better explain this, understand that everything in the world vibrates at its own frequency — Resonators can find and change that frequency.
