Amazfit Bip 5 Review: The End of an Era?
The Amazfit Bip is a formidable entry-level smartwatch from Huami that aims to address the biggest weakness of smartwatches: battery life. For a suggested retail price of $100, the Bip offers 30 days of battery life, smartphone notifications, fitness tracking, heart rate monitoring, and a GPS tracker. It’s a sleek, attractive timepiece that takes its cues from the Apple Watch, but it strips away the bells and whistles in favor of a stripped-down experience for those who want something simpler.
You may not be able to add your own apps to the Bip, but it still gets the job done. If you want a smartwatch but don’t need an OLED screen, music storage, or a ton of connected apps, the Bip might be a great choice for you.
Thin and light, the Bip watch disappears on your wrist the moment you put it on. At first glance, it resembles an Apple Watch, with a bezel crown and a rectangular frame. It comes in a few different colors: black, white, green, and red, and you can swap out the straps for a standard 20mm band to suit your style preferences. Calling it elegant would be a bridge too far, but it’s certainly a watch that will go well with a wide range of outfits thanks to its sleek 1.28-inch color LCD display and ultra-thin profile. Weighing in at just 1.1 ounces, it’s easy to wear all day and night, and its IP68 water and dust resistance rating means you don’t have to worry about getting caught in the rain.
