The next-generation Kindle Paperwhite has a larger screen, faster page turns, a week of battery life, and is available October 27.
CNET News – Amazon Introduces New Kindle Paperwhite
Amazon has introduced two new Kindle Paperwhite models: the new 8GB Paperwhite and the 32GB Signature Edition, which will be available for purchase in late October. The new design should make for an improved overall reading experience, with Amazon noting several improvements in the official announcement.
First and foremost is the display itself, which has been bumped up to 6.8 inches and has smaller (10.2mm) bezels. The display can also get about 10% brighter than previous models, if necessary. There’s also an adjustable warm light, and the display includes a white-on-black “dark” mode. The Signature Edition is the same, except it also includes a front light that can automatically adjust its brightness depending on your surroundings.
Both new models also offer what Amazon claims is the longest battery life for a Kindle device to date, at 10 weeks (yes, weeks). Charging itself has been upgraded as well, now featuring a USB-C connection that can reach a full charge in about two and a half hours. The Signature Edition also includes Qi wireless charging capabilities.
