Kindle Oasis in 2024|See Before You Buy
With so many affordable e-readers on the market, the $249.99 Kindle Oasis raises questions about whether it really is that expensive. After carrying it everywhere for a week—on our commute, in our luggage, and around town—we were impressed. The price may be high, but a waterproof casing, generous storage, customizable page views, and an easy-grip grip make it a luxury e-reader for the reader who isn’t afraid to spend a little.
Unlike most of Amazon’s Kindle line, the Oasis has a thinner, angular shape, measuring 6.3 x 5.6 x 0.13-0.33 inches (HWD). It’s quirky, but it works. If the body were any thicker, it would feel awkward to grip. In fact, it thickens slightly about halfway down the back of the device, where the e-reader slopes down and thickens. This gives the user a nice, comfortable grip that can be used by both left- and right-handed users with a simple twist of the device.
The weight isn’t noticeable, since the 6.8 ounces are distributed throughout the device. Oddly enough, this makes the Oasis feel lighter, and we held it for extended periods of time without any issues.
