It's like Netflix, but for video games.
Amazon Luna should be free (at least for now)
That’s the easiest way to explain what Amazon Luna is. While it hasn’t quite hammered in all the nails it needs to make that claim true, it’s the closest thing we’ve ever come to cloud gaming, and there have been more than a few attempts along the way.
Luna is now available in limited access and is easily one of the smoothest cloud gaming experiences I’ve ever had. The app’s UI, ease of launching a game, and overall performance all come together to make it a smooth experience. The fact that you can easily sort games and even add them to a playlist makes everything run more smoothly, really giving it more of those Netflix vibes that every other cloud gaming app tries to emulate.
I have a perfectly capable PC, but that hasn’t stopped me from becoming intrigued by the idea of cloud gaming. After trying services like OnLive when it was still a thing, newer options like Google Stadia and Nvidia’s GeForce Now service, and even free apps like Rainway, it’s been interesting to see different ways to play games in the cloud. While these options have had their merits – like Rainway being completely free and available on Android, iOS, and even Roku and Apple TV – none have come as close to the vision as Luna.
