AMD has officially announced its new Radeon RX 6600 XT graphics card, which is set to release in mid-August and will start at $379.
Where Gaming Begins: Ep. 4 | AMD Radeon™ RX 6600 XT
The Radeon RX 6600 XT appears to be aimed at PC gamers with older hardware, offering a decent upgrade for 1080p users, but doesn’t have nearly enough power for a 4K setup. It might sound counterintuitive, but as The Verge points out, 1080p gaming displays were the most sold displays last year.
A card like the RX 6600 XT would be a good choice for these displays, as it will allow you to play popular AAA games at 1080p with max settings.
In terms of specs, the RX 6600 XT packs 8GB of GDDR6 RAM with a memory speed of 16Gbps and a bandwidth of up to 256GB/s. It features 32 compute units with a boost frequency of up to 2589MHz and a gaming frequency of up to 2359MHz. So, it’s certainly not as powerful as other cards in AMD’s 6000-series, but its MSRP is also about $100 cheaper than the closest model, the RX 6700 XT.
