It's one thing to use a retro console to play old Atari or Nintendo titles, but it's another thing entirely to boot up games dating back to the early 1960s.
The Analogue Pocket is CRAZY
Owners of the analog Pocket can now do just that, as the portable console recently received a system update that includes Spacewar!, a game invented by MIT students in 1962.
Spacewar! is a competitive two-player shooter in which two spaceships battle it out while navigating the gravity of a star. It used an early version of a gamepad for controls and a cathode ray tube for the screen.
The old-school technology used to create this game presented emulation challenges, which were handed over to third-party developer Spaceman. The port of Spacewar! is used to showcase the handheld's new developer mode, which allows third-party developers to create games specifically for the system.
