Andrew Rayel – Lifeline [Album interview]
Before he ever wrote a word professionally, Andrew Martins enjoyed tinkering with the gadgets in his home. Like most youngsters in the early 1990s, he fell in love with computers when the family’s first computer arrived. With his nose buried in a DOS 3.1 reference book and a command prompt always in sight, he spent many an afternoon delving deeply into what makes the machine tick. Since then, he’s built his own computers from scratch, and always delves into the settings of a new machine to see what he can get out of it. He prefers Android to iOS, is a Sony PlayStation fan, and favors AMD over Intel.
Professionally, Andrew has had a checkered career covering everything from city politics to the business implications of the 2020 presidential election. After graduating from Ramapo College of New Jersey in 2009, he embarked on a nearly decade-long career in print journalism. As head of a regional group of newspapers, he became painfully aware of the financial impact a slow economic recovery can have on an entire industry. Most recently, Andrew spent more than two years at business.com and Business News Daily, where he covered the tax, government policy and technology beats.
