The current Android 12 beta rolls out a new design for notifications and quick settings, as well as an 'ongoing conversation' notification in the Phone app.
Android 12 Beta – Everything You Need to Know
The notification, or "chip" as it is called, is a pill-shaped icon that appears at the top of a phone's display during a call. The different-colored chip has a phone icon on it with the time next to it to indicate the length of the current call.
Pulling down the redesigned Quick Settings will reveal some of the previous actions that have taken place, and allow users to quickly mute or hang up the call. Another new feature includes a new clock interface for the stock Android app as part of the overall Material You redesign.
The new notification style is intended to be a less intrusive version of the current Bubble notifications. Currently, Bubbles drop down when a notification is sent, floating to the side. However, this design can be intrusive as it can cover the screen, forcing users to constantly reposition the Bubble.
