While the focus of Android 12 is primarily on improving Android 12 for foldable phones, tablets, and Chromebooks, the upcoming Android 12L release will also benefit smaller phones by fixing bugs and introducing new features.
Android 12L hands-on: ALL new changes and features!
Google unveiled Android 12L last week, noting that it would use the update to create a more unified Android experience across tablets, foldable phones and even Chromebooks. The idea is to make better use of the real estate that larger displays provide. Google plans to address this by improving multitasking, improving the appearance of notifications, and even adding some backend changes.
But it doesn’t stop there, as Google is also planning to bring Android 12L to smaller devices. While smaller phones won’t get any of the significant changes, such as the new UI and app resizing options, they can still get some benefits from the update.
“The focus is on improving the user experience on large screens by enabling multitasking and providing layouts that take full advantage of the larger space available on such devices,” Dragos Dobrean, a mobile developer and co-founder of appssemble, explained in an email.
