In a surprise announcement late Wednesday, Nintendo informed Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp users that the service is being discontinued. Players can continue to use the app until its shutdown on Nov. 28.
Animal Crossing Pocket Camp is DEAD…Is Nintendo Done With Mobile Gaming?
The good news is that the company is already talking about its replacement. While the current game is free and the replacement will cost money, it will work offline and there will be no in-app purchases or subscriptions like Pocket Camp Club. You will be able to transfer all your data to the new app once it is available.
The new app does not require you to be online to play, so Market Boxes, visiting other campsites, gifts and other online features will not be available. Furthermore, the company says that the controls and core gameplay will be the same as Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp.
To transfer your data to the paid version of the app, you can link your Nintendo Account if you haven't already linked the two. With the exception of Leaf Tickets, save data will be transferred automatically once the new app is ready.
