Tower Defense and Anime have always been a winning combination on Roblox, and one successful game in this genre is Anime Vanguards. When you first load it, you will be asked to choose a starting unit from 3 options: Luffo, Roku, and Ichiga, the Roblox versions of iconic Anime characters. At this point, the question that comes to mind is which starting unit to choose in Anime Vanguards and this guide can help you decide.

It’s hard to come up with the perfect starter unit, as it’s subjective and depends on your playstyle and preferences. However, Luffo is a good unit to start with because of his punch damage and range, which can be useful if you’re just starting out and figuring out the mechanics of the game. For example, the very first phase is a breeze with Luffo because of his physical damage area and ranged attacks.

Luffo's Unit Passive is "Greatest Pirate: RNG +5% on each attack made (up to +15%). Resets after 10 seconds of not attacking." This essentially improves his effectiveness over time by increasing his range by 5% on each attack, allowing him to hit enemies from further away while the fight continues. This makes Luffo particularly good for stages where strategic positioning and consistent range gains are essential.

That’s not to say Roku and Ichiga’s other units aren’t good — they can be — but personally, Luffo worked out the best for me. It’s much easier to take out waves of enemies and also earn Gems early on.
