Many Apex Legends players are reporting major server issues and instances of the game freezing and crashing after the free-to-play shooter's latest Double Take Collection event launched on June 25, 2024.
What You Look Like Based on Your Apex Head
The Double Take Collection event brings a new Quads mode in place of Duos, a new Prestige skin for Lifeline, and a 1.5x boost to all Prestige Skin Challenges. But it has also brought crippling server issues for many players, with Apex fans taking to the game’s active subreddit to voice their dismay at being unable to play the game at all.
Players are claiming that these server issues began immediately following the game’s update for the Double Take Collection event. And while an additional 9MB update was released shortly after the main patch, that update apparently did nothing to fix things for players either. However, some players have had luck by bypassing Steam entirely and locating and running the r5apex.exe file on their machines, though this would obviously only help PC players.
It’s not just server issues plaguing the latest Apex Legends update. A lot of players are also complaining about the game freezing or crashing in the lobby menu. Again, this only happened to them after they patched the game for the Double Take Collection event.
