Apple has announced plans for its own at-home repair program, called Self-Service Repair, to launch next year.
Apple Launches Self-Service Repair Program for iPhone
Self-Service Repair will be available for iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 models to start, and will later come to Macs with M1 chips. It will also focus on the most common repairs to start (display, camera, battery, etc.), but will add options for additional repairs in the future. The catch is that you will need to order both the parts and the necessary tools directly from Apple.
If you know how to repair your iPhone and want to do it yourself, you can order everything you need from the Self Service Repair Online Store.
Once the repair is complete, you also have the option of returning the used part for recycling, along with a credit toward the purchase. However, Apple does not specify whether you need to return the tools you order.
