New reports suggest that Apple is reportedly working on a refresh of its AirPods line, starting with a new set of entry-level AirPods in 2021.
New AirPods LEAK! AirPods 4, AirPods Pro 3, and AirPods Max 2! Coming soon?!
According to Bloomberg, Apple is planning to release another set of AirPods by the end of the year, which would mark the first time Apple's earbuds have been updated since 2019. Bloomberg also claims that a new set of AirPods Pro are in the works and will be released in 2022.
This isn’t the first time reports of new AirPods have surfaced, with leaked images of the so-called “AirPods 3” published by 52Audio back in March. Like those leaked images, Bloomberg’s sources claim that the updated base AirPods will adopt more of the design of the AirPods Pro but won’t feature audio systems like active noise cancellation.
For the redesigned AirPods Pro, sources have claimed that Apple is cutting off the stem, as it has with other wireless earbuds. If true, it would give the AirPods Pro a dramatically different look than previous designs, which could appeal to customers who prefer earbuds without the long stem. Bloomberg also reported that Apple is in talks about additional colors for its AirPods Max headphones, which launched in December.
