After much backlash from critics and users, Apple is delaying measures against child abuse.
Apple postpones plan to scan iPhones for child abuse images
In August, the tech giant initially announced a new policy that would use technology to identify potential child abuse images in iCloud and Messages, but concerns followed. Experts warned that while Apple promised user privacy, the technology would ultimately put all Apple users at risk.
On Friday, Apple announced that it would be delaying the rollout of the technology entirely in order to make improvements and fully protect user privacy.
"Based on feedback from customers, advocates, researchers, and others, we've decided to take additional time over the next few months to gather input and make improvements before releasing these critically important features for keeping kids safe," Apple said in an updated statement on its website.
