7 Reasons Why the iPad 7th Generation is the Right Choice! (10.2" + iPadOS)
I’ve long been skeptical of the idea of using a tablet for serious productivity. Laptops simply offer too much: keyboard, touchpad, ports, a full operating system to run any program you want, and support for external storage and accessories. The latest 7th-generation iPad paired with iPadOS 13 seems designed to make me eat my words.
With the new iPad, you get a larger 10.2-inch display, slightly smaller than the iPad Air and closer to the 11-inch iPad Pro. The larger screen gives you more room for multitasking and split-screen apps, and a better surface for Apple Pencil. Most importantly, the new iPadOS brings better multitasking support and SD card support for additional storage. You also get mouse support and a smoother browsing experience with sites loading in desktop mode instead of defaulting to mobile. Pair all this with the Smart Keyboard and you have an affordable 2-in-1 multimedia slate that’s capable of a fair amount of productivity at an affordable price.
I wrote a large portion of this review on the iPad, watching videos, browsing, taking notes, and generally getting most of my work done without ever having to use my MacBook. That said, I still wouldn't trade in my MacBook for an iPad – there's something to be said for a bigger screen running a full-fledged operating system – but the iPad is now a far more usable device for travel or everyday use.
