iPhone 12 Pro MAX review: is bigger better?
The iPhone 12 line is Apple's biggest yet, with four different 5G-capable phones that are all largely the same at their core, but differ in size, materials, and perks. While the core iPhone 12 is the best choice for most buyers, offering an excellent balance of power, style, and features for the price, there are more expensive options available.
The iPhone 12 Pro Max sits at the top of that pile, being Apple’s largest phone yet thanks to a massive and stunningly bright 6.7-inch OLED display. But the Pro Max delivers more than just a size increase, packing more features than the base iPhone 12 Pro thanks to compelling camera improvements that make it arguably the best phone available today for low-light and night photography. Of course, all these extra capabilities make it $300 more expensive than the base iPhone 12, so it’s only worth it for true power users.
Like the other models, the iPhone 12 Pro Max takes a bit of a throwback design influence from Apple’s iPhone 5 thanks to its flat-bottom frame. It may not be an entirely new look for Apple, but compared to the current top-end smartphone competition, it’s a distinctive silhouette on the market. After three years of near-identical phones based on the iPhone X design, it’s also a very welcome change.
