Apple may be working on a foldable MacBook. But isn't the MacBook already foldable? Yes, it is, but not like this.
Apple's Foldable MacBook Is Coming! What We Know
Imagine if you could open up your laptop and use it like normal, but when you needed more screen real estate you could simply fold it out, doubling your display size. That’s the promise of a foldable laptop screen, and it makes a lot more sense, both technically and practically, than a foldable phone. It would be a great product, but Apple’s surprising conservatism means that rumour may never come to fruition.
"Apple's approach to product development has always seemed conservative to me, with more emphasis on refining existing technology than pushing boundaries with bold, untested ideas. These rumors of foldable technology don't seem to sit well with me, and I'm curious about the longevity and usability of such a design," former Google software engineer Garret Yamasaki told Lifewire via email.
For an extreme idea of how this product idea could play out, consider Lenovo’s Yoga Book. It’s a pair of displays, hinged into a clamshell-style laptop form factor, with a separate keyboard that can be attached or detached. As you can see, the number of configurations is manifold, from a regular laptop form factor, to an extra-wide display with a separate keyboard, to a touch-enabled book.
