With its ultra-thin design, Apple’s MacBook Air revolutionized the laptop market and quickly became a fan favorite. But when Apple implemented high-res Retina displays into its MacBook Pro line and launched the similarly thin premium MacBook, the Air seemed all but forgotten: occasionally updated with newer components, but ultimately left with a dated display and some confusion about its place in the Mac laptop ecosystem.
Thankfully, that changed in late 2018 with the introduction of the then-new MacBook Air. The 2018 MacBook Air retains the thin profile, but implements a much-improved display and a number of other technology and feature upgrades. The MacBook Air retains everything that was great about the original, while remaining a completely usable and competitive premium laptop for today.
It's a year old now and has been superseded in some ways by more recent upgrades, but even the 2018 model is still worth checking out. Here's why.
